OBJECTIVE

 

The Senior Project Officer supports the effective implementation and coordination of a portfolio of projects within Oxfam Jordan’s integrated Programmes Department, covering Gender Justice, Economic Justice, and Climate Justice programming.

The role focuses on day-to-day project delivery, coordination with partners and internal teams, and technical support—currently with a primary focus on protection-related programming within Gender Justice—while maintaining alignment with Oxfam’s One Programme Approach, organizational standards, and donor requirements. This role requires field visits to Oxfam-implemented projects.

 

The following responsibilities are not exhaustive and aim to provide a clear indication of the nature, scope, and level of responsibility associated with this role at this grade:

  • Supports the delivery of agreed project plans and activities, contributing to implementation, monitoring, and reporting processes.
  • Coordinates assigned tasks and resources under the guidance of the Project Manager.
  • Applies relevant technical, operational, and coordination skills to support project objectives.
  • Handles a range of operational and coordination tasks that may be complex but are generally supported by established procedures and guidance.
  • Collects, analyses, and communicates project-related information to support decision-making and reporting.
  • Exercises judgement within defined parameters, seeking guidance from the Project Manager where required.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE WORKING GROUP

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Implementation and Coordination

  • Support day-to-day implementation of assigned project activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and partners to ensure smooth delivery of activities and outputs.
  • Track implementation progress and flag risks, challenges, or delays to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to narrative and financial reporting by compiling information, documentation, and supporting evidence.

 

Technical and Programmatic Focus (Gender Justice and Protection)

 

  • Support day-to-day implementation of assigned project activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and partners to ensure smooth delivery of activities and outputs.
  • Track implementation progress and flag risks, challenges, or delays to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to narrative and financial reporting by compiling information, documentation, and supporting evidence.

 

Partnership and Stakeholder Management 

 

  • Support day-to-day implementation of assigned project activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and partners to ensure smooth delivery of activities and outputs.
  • Track implementation progress and flag risks, challenges, or delays to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to narrative and financial reporting by compiling information, documentation, and supporting evidence.

Budget and Administrative Support

 

  • Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking in coordination with the Project Manager and Finance team.
  • Assist in preparing financial documentation, procurement requests, and activity-related cost tracking.
  • Ensure that project documentation is complete, accurate, and filed in line with organisational requirements.

 

Safeguarding, Accountability, and Organisational Commitments                

 

  • Ensure full compliance with Oxfam’s safeguarding, protection, and accountability standards across all areas of work.
  • Promote safe programming practices and ensure risks related to protection and safeguarding are identified, monitored, and mitigated.
  • Uphold Oxfam’s feminist principles, values, and code of conduct in all professional interactions.

 

Communication, visibility and Knowledge Sharing

  • Support project communication and visibility activities in line with donor and Oxfam guidelines.
  • Assist in documenting case studies, success stories, learning notes, and presentations, as requested.
  • Support coordination with partners and internal teams to ensure visibility requirements are met.

Other Responsibilities

  • Undertake other relevant duties within the scope of the role, as reasonably requested by the Project Manager or Programme Manager.

Respond flexibly to evolving programme priorities and contextual changes.

Qualifications

Essentials

  • A university degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field (e.g. social sciences, gender studies, development, human rights, or related disciplines).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience supporting project implementation in humanitarian and development contexts.
  • Practical experience in coordinating project activities, work plans, and reporting processes.
  • Good understanding of gender equality, protection principles, and rights-based approaches.
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze project data against indicators.
  • Basic to intermediate financial skills related to activity budgets and expenditure tracking.
  • Knowledge of the local and national context, including relevant policies, strategies, plans, and legal frameworks related to gender justice, protection, and development programming.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Commitment to Oxfam’s values, feminist leadership principles, and safeguarding standards.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (Arabic is an asset).

 

Nonessentials

  • Experience working with local partners and civil society organizations.
  • Experience contributing to programme or project design processes.
  • Knowledge of environmental or resource-efficiency systems is an asset
