The Role:

• Carry out assessment of the public health risks and analysis of the threats to life, health and dignity faced by Person of concerns and make recommendations
• Work closely with engineering colleagues (PHEs) to implement and monitor Oxfam’s water, sanitation and hygiene promotion (WASH) interventions ensuring an integrated behaviour change communication (BCC) approach to the public health needs of programme activities.
• Organize and conduct training for community groups which may include CHVs, water Management Committees, latrine cleaners, etc as applicable or as needed by the project.
• In collaboration with other actors develop necessary materials including IEC materials relevant to context and needs.
• Depending on the situation, the post holder may be asked to perform other tasks as requested by the line manager (PHP Team Leader/WASH Coordinator).
• Work closely with MEAL officer, to implement appropriate MEAL activities and ensure that data collected is timely analysed and reported to inform programme progress and management action/decision.
• Ensure that relevant complaint and feedback mechanisms in the community are established and monitored.
• Write regular reports adhering to OGB reporting formats at agreed intervals (weekly, monthly etc).

Reporting, Communications & Coordination

• Provide timely verbal and written progress reports to the Project Manager
• Coordinate closely with all thematic focal points within the project
• Actively participate in field-level WASH coordination forums, including WASH sector meetings, TWGs, and joint assessments.
• Represent Oxfam in coordination meetings, community consultations, and stakeholder engagements as delegated by the Project Manager

Staff Management

• Provide day to day management of contractors, casuals where necessary
• To provide additional support to other humanitarian programmes as directed by the project manager and Technical Coordinator

Thinking and Understanding

• Should be analytical, logical and systematic in approaching issues

Working Effectively with Others

• Should be able to commit and work toward achieving the organisation organizational goals. This involves effective and appropriate participation in organizational initiatives and being willing to put personal targets second in favour of other organizational priorities.  It also includes being aware of the leadership role of following and of own specific contribution to the team.
