The Role:

 

Oxfam Syria is looking for PHP Assistant

  • To support the PHP Officer and the WASH team leader in assessing the needs of most affected population and in the delivery of timely and adequately hygiene awareness and distribution of WASH NFIs, with ensuring appropriate partner and community involvement in the design and delivery of PHP activities and interventions.
  • To support in development of IEC materials and behaviour change communication to address the urgent public health risks
  • Promoting healthy hygiene practices among the affected communities applying community engagement approach and the agreed safe programming measures throughout the project lifecycle
  • PHP assistant will be working in the field most of time (about 90%). Will provide day to day support and follow up on the PHP activities in targeted communities

 

What we are looking for:

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

•    Minimum University/ institute degree and experience in either: public health, medical, pharmacy community development, education, engineering or other relevant domains. 
•    Academic or professional qualifications are essential. 
•    At least 2 years’ experience in either Development or Humanitarian sector in hygiene promotion or distribution program is essential

In addition: 
•    Experience in designing IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials and interactive learning tools 
•    Strong communication and coordination skills. 
•    Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different groups of the community. 
•    Good, solid report writing skills 
•    Good competency in Microsoft Office applications  
•    Good competency in Photoshop, illustrator, or other design software.
•    Good written and spoken English and Arabic is essential 
•    Take responsibility for own work and make decisions on routine matters without close supervision 
•    Good organizational and work planning skills 
•    Able to set priorities and multi-task in dealing with job requirements. 
•    Detail oriented and good record keeper 
•    Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
•    Proactively assume more responsibility and/or more difficult areas of work in agreement with line manager.  
•    Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in all aspects of working 
•    Ability to quickly understand local cultural and customary norms 
•    Capacity to travel if needed
