The Role:

 

Oxfam Syria is looking for MEAL Assistant to support the implementation of Oxfam’s MEAL strategy and framework in Syria. The role involves assisting with data collection, analysis, reporting, and managing beneficiary feedback and accountability system in line with Oxfam standards. The position provides technical support to Hub teams and partner organizations in applying MEAL systems and processes to ensure timely sharing of MEAL findings and learning to improve program quality.

In addition:

• Minimum University degree (completed).
• Minimum 3 years’ previous experience of working in the humanitarian field, with at least 2 years of 
direct experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) in one or more of the 
following sectors: WASH, Livelihood, Food Security, Protection, and emergency response.
• Solid experience in field data collection and supervising data collectors/enumerators.
• Proven experience in using digital data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK Tool, SurveyCTO, or 
related tools.
• Good experience in data management (cleaning, verification, analysis, visualization)
• Good knowledge in presenting quantitative and qualitative data.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in coordinating with internal departments and partners (e.g., WASH, FSL, Protection, 
Gender, Logistics).

• Good organizational skills, including accuracy, consistency, attention to detail, tenacity, and the ability 
to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
• Passion for improving the effectiveness and impact of multi-sectoral programs and demonstrating 
tangible outcomes for poor and vulnerable women and men. 
• Ability to plan workload and demonstrate accountability for outputs with the supervision of the line 
manager. 
• Strong commitment to gender equality and social justice, and the aims and values of Oxfam.

 

Desirable:

• Bachelor’s degree in (Data Management, Data Analysis, Statistics and Management Information 
Systems, information management, Project Management), or a related field from a recognized 
university.
• Experience in working with an International Non-Governmental Organization (Minimum 1 year) would 
be highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of program/project cycle management in the humanitarian field is an advantage.
• Familiarity with the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) is an advantage.
