Oxfam has been working in South Sudan since 1983. Our Programmatic Strategy concentrates on saving lives, Resilient Livelihoods, Advancing Gender Justice and Good Governance and Active Citizenship through a full spectrum platform that includes humanitarian response, recovery and resilience, long term development and policy and advocacy. Oxfam currently operates via six area field offices in South Sudan. (It also works in partnership with several national organisations and community groups.

Position: MEAL Assistant

Reports to:  Commodity Tracking & Reporting Team Leader

Location: Uror

Grade & Level:  E1 National

Duration of Contract:  3 Months

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support timely and high-quality reporting on project activities in line with donor (WFP) requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of both qualitative and quantitative data through proper data collection, entry, and verification processes.
  • Act as the administrative focal point for enumerators during field data collection, ensuring coordination and adherence to guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain an effective complaint and feedback mechanism, ensuring all stakeholders are aware of and able to access it.
  • Document best practices, success stories, and case studies demonstrating project impact and outcomes.
  • Ensure standardized data collection and management methodologies at field level to capture and analyze vulnerabilities across different target groups.
  • Conduct regular monitoring activities and ensure timely reporting in line with work plans and project timelines.
  • Support the appraisal of project activities and progress, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with partner implementation.
  • Collaborate with the MEAL Officer in Juba to collect, compile, and enter MEAL data in accordance with the approved MEAL plan.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Diploma or Degree in Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field, with a solid understanding of WFP Project activities, WASH, Education, Peace building, Governance, and MEAL implementation.
  • Proven experience working in emergency and/or development contexts, with strong Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) skills.
  • Good technical knowledge of MEAL systems, tools, and methodologies.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic and Nuer is an added advantage.
  • Experience working effectively within multicultural and diverse teams.
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and data management systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in training and capacity building of staff or community members.
  • Commitment to the values, mission, and objectives of Oxfam.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn in dynamic environments.
