Oxfam in Nepal
Oxfam is a global movement working to end the injustice of poverty. We partner with local organisations, communities and institutions to create practical, innovative solutions that help people thrive. Whether building resilient livelihoods, amplifying the voices of the marginalized, or responding to crises, we stand alongside those most affected by inequality—especially women and vulnerable groups.
In Nepal, Oxfam has been a committed ally since the early 1980s, driving transformative change through a triple mandate – development, influencing, and humanitarian response initiatives, that tackle poverty and social exclusion. Our work centers on empowering communities—particularly women—to claim their rights, influence decision-making, and hold power to account.
Through strong partnerships with civil society, local leaders, and government institutions, we’ve helped build resilient livelihoods, expand access to essential services, promote and strengthen local leadership and communities’ ability to withstand climate shocks and disasters.
Our vision for Nepal is a just society free from poverty, where every one lives with dignity, exercises their rights, and participates fully as active citizens. To realize this vision, Oxfam focuses on interconnected priorities:
