The Role:

The Head of Economic Inclusion and Justice at Oxfam in Bangladesh (OiBD) is crucial during the growth phase, implementing the new Country Strategy and Operating Model. As part of the Country Management Team, the role shapes program quality, portfolio, and market presence, collaborating across the confederation. It supports the country program, including the Rohingya response, focusing on economic inclusion and justice for underprivileged groups. Responsibilities include strategy design, implementation, research, partnerships, and advocacy, positioning Oxfam as a ‘Thought Leader’. Key areas are innovating livelihoods and food security for underrepresented groups, partnering with the private sector for social enterprises, and creating platforms to empower young business leaders. The role provides strategic leadership to promote economic empowerment for women, youth, and people with diverse backgrounds.

 

 

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability, and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be/have:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, development studies, or relevant social sciences (e.g., Feminist Economics).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in economic inclusion and justice, with at least 7 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills with a track record of driving organizational change in economic justice.
  • Expertise in market assessment, gender-transformative value chain development, gender lens investing, social enterprise and SME development, skills development and TVET, food security and livelihood, capacity assessment, and capacity building.
  • Extensive experience in popular mobilization, feminist research methodology, policy advocacy, and campaigning.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and representation skills.
