Do you have experience in criterion1?

  • MSc /BSc degree in Public Health Engineering, Public Health Promotion, Civil Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Environmental or Public Health or any related discipline with an excellent technical understanding and demonstrated experience on WASH.

Do you have experience in criterion2?

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in WASH and humanitarian work with 2 years in WASH Team leader or Camp Manager position at field/camp level, preferably within an INGO or UN.

The Role:

 

Senior PHP Officer & Coordination Focal will lead, manage and effectively deliver Oxfam’s overall WASH response to South Sudanese refugees in Gambella region of Ethiopia, Pinyudo 1 and 2 camps. To provide high quality technical support and quality control in management, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Oxfam’s South Sudan Refugee response programme in Gambella.

Maintain and improve established systems & structures required for the effective timely implementation of quality water, sanitation and hygiene promotion component of the programme. He/she will manage programme, financial, HR and logistics with good people management skills having a good understanding of team development

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

 

  • Demonstrated experience of managing WASH programme with large budget and teams.
  • Excellent understanding and demonstrated experience of implementing integrated PHE and PHP strategies and interventions. 
  • Broad set of management skills (programme, financial, HR and logistics including excellent people management skills with a good understanding of team development.
  • Demonstrated experience of integrating MEAL, gender, protection and accessibility (inclusive) into emergency response programmes and longer-term strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with UN clusters, local authorities and implementing I/NGO partners.
  • Ability to manage the programme and support functions to ensure smooth operations and project implementation.
  • Proven experience in security management, particularly in monitoring and assessing situations
  • A high level of interpersonal, communications and representational skills
  • Excellent command on English language and knowledge of local language is an asset.
  • A proven record of mentoring and capacity building of teams and partners in complex contexts.
  • Diplomacy, tact and administrative skills in order to work with people at all programme levels and with external organisations as needed.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs.
